Hey folks, these new films are actually from another collection which Rick arranged to be digitized. It will be mostly public domain feature films (like "D.O.A." for example) and some TV shows.

These films will be captured at DVD quality (full D1 with a high bitrate). The files will be bigger (2-4 GB) but you'll be able to make a high quality DVD-R for your collection. Lower quality MPEG-1, MPEG-4 and streaming files will also be available.

I hope to have a couple of test files up soon.

I'll keep you folks posted.

I note that DOA is online now, in the Open-Source Movies section:

Here's the IMDB page for the movie:

I'm really excited to see these public domain movies going up! Are they going to get their own collection, or just get put in open-source movies for now?

Thanks for the update, Skip! It's wonderful news that high bitrate D1 720x480 DVD quality transfers will be made available for the PD programs. So they're 2 to 4 GB per film, that will be great, the extra quality will be worth it! My 3 MBit broadband connection will get a workout!
